Huddersfield is a large market town in West Yorkshire, England, and compared to some larger cities, offers a fairly low cost of living. It is positioned halfway between Manchester and Leeds. It has lots of beautiful Victorian architecture and is home to the rugby league team Huddersfield Giants and football premiership team Huddersfield Town.

 

Places to visit

Oakwell Hall & Country Park

Oakwell Hall is furnished as a family home in the 1690s and offers visitors a real insight into a post-English Civil War household. The site also includes over 100 acres of country park, a visitor centre, gift shop, nature trail, picnic sites and playground

Take the Discover Huddersfield trail around Huddersfield town centre and the ghost trail to learn some spooky tales whilst exploring  the towns heritage.

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is an annual event which runs over 10 days around several venues in the town. Running in November each year it includes concerts, music-theatre, dance, multi-media, talks and film .

Huddersfield has a great student nightlife, where there are a vast array of bars in including The Warehouse, Camel Club and much more. Enjoy acoustic nights at Bar 1:2 and their live music events.

Huddersfield offers an array of food from around the world, including Brazilian, Lebanese, Mexican and Thai, naming just a few!

Huddersfield is home to the Food and Drink Festival which takes place every August. It’s free to attend and is run over 4 days, with stalls and entertainment too.

Huddersfield town centre has a host of high street shops, that cater for all your fashion needs, including shops Primark and Topshop. Make sure you head to New Street and King Street.

The town is also home to some great independent shopping, take a look around Byram Arcade a beautiful Victorian arcade home to specialist shops selling homewares, fashion, vintage, arts, crafts, and gifts, plus several cafés and restaurants.

Just catch a train to visit the nearby cities of Leeds and Manchester, with Leeds being just under 30 mins away by train.

Leeds Bradford International airport is 22 miles away from Hudderfield and Manchester Airport is 45 miles – so its relatively easy to travel to most countries from here.
